A man in his 40s and a man in his 20s have been arrested after 59 kilograms worth of cannabis was seized in Kilkenny on Thursday.
The street value of the find is believed to be €1,180,000.
On Thursday October 7th, as part of ongoing investigations targeting people suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the Kilkenny area, a Joint Operation was conducted by personnel attached to the Revenue Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau.
During the course of this operation, the drugs were seized by Revenue Officers.
Gardaí subsequently arrested a man aged in his 20s at the scene and he is presently detained at Kilkenny Garda Station.
A car was subsequently intercepted in the Kilkenny area and Gardaí arrested a man aged in his 40s and he is also detained at Kilkenny Garda Station.
Both men are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
