The NTA and Bus Eireann have officially launched their new enhanced 360 bus service to Tramore.

Officials from both groups attended the official launch at the Prom in Tramore on Monday morning.

Previous concerns were raised by residents in the Riverstown area earlier this year after the NTA announced that the bus route to the Tramore suburb would be removed.

However, after consultation, a revised service was implemented for the area meaning that 12 buses per day would be lost in Riverstown.

Other changes also see stops being removed at the IDA industrial estate and SETU in the city, with the route now entering the Foxwood area.

The 360 and 360A routes are set to benefit from enhanced changes from Sunday, December 17.

The improvements aim to serve more passengers on a more frequent, punctual basis. According to the NTA: “The enhanced Bus Éireann Route 360 will provide buses between Tramore and Waterford Bus Station every 20 minutes during the day – an increased frequency of almost 80% on current services.”

The investment comes amid a growing demand for better public transport for an ever-growing population.

Speaking at a recent launch in Tramore, Anne Graham CEO of the NTA said: “The enhancements to these routes are significant and will positively impact the lives of people in Tramore who will use these bus services to travel locally around town or into the city and beyond.”

She continued: “We are connecting more people with more places and the improvements to these routes represent one of the most significant enhancements under the Connecting Ireland programme this year.”
