GARDAÍ are investigating after the body of a woman was found on Tramore Beach.
The discovery was made shortly after 7am on Monday morning when a person was out walking.
Emergency services were immediately alerted and Gardaí, paramedics and Waterford Fire Brigade attended the scene.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene amid indications she may have been in the water for some time.
It is understood that the body of the woman was fully clothed.
Her remains will be transferred to University Hospital Waterford, where a post mortem examination will take place.
The results of the post mortem will determine the course of Garda investigations.
