A post mortem examination is to be carried out on the body of a 21-year-old woman found on Saturday afternoon.
Gardaí and Emergency Services were alerted following the discovery of the woman shortly after 4pm in the Kilculliheen area of Ferrybank.
The alarm was raised by people walking in the area at the time.
Her body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will be carried out. The Coroner has been notified.
Gardaí say they await the outcome of the post-mortem to determine fully the course of their investigations but foul play is not suspected at this time.
