Pizza box bins are being trialled in by one local authority to tackle issues with the bulky boxes taking up space.
The pilot is being rolled out first in Blackrock and Dalkey in Dublin.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council says the aim is to tackle the issue of the boxes blocking ordinary public bins.
The overflow of bins in public spaces has been an issue across the country including in Waterford, where there have been serious issues with rubbish in the city's People's Park.
The Dublin local authority says it wants to engage with people on ideas for improving public areas.
