An arch connecting The Double Tower on Castle Street and The Watch Tower close to Manor Street is just one of the recommendations made in a report on Waterford's City Walls.
A presentation that included many of the report's findings was presented to councillors at the latest Metropolitan Council meeting by Rosemary Ryan and was organised by Independent Cllr Mary Roche.
The Southgate Associates Report published in 2018, was for lighting to be increased at the towers and walls.
Rosemary Ryan from Waterford Museum of Treasures said: "Some of the suggestions in the report included putting up flags instead of a bus stop. He also suggested putting an arch in, to recreate what it was to be on the wall-walk.
"It would connect the wall-walk from The Watch Tower to The Double Tower so you could see what it was like to be up on those walls keeping out people attacking."
Labour Cllr Seamus Ryan said we need to make the most of the historic Manor Street entrance.
"As you're coming into the city from the Cork Road from Manor Street side we should be making more of that entrance to the city.
"Where the walls are at the end of Closegate and across the road that should be highlighted and at night should be lit up," according to Ryan.
