The family of a woman who went missing in Waterford City 26 years ago has again appealed for information.
Imelda Keenan was 22 years of age when she vanished from William Street on January 3rd 1994.
Gardai say despite multiple searches as well as national and local media attention they've been unable to locate Imelda or explain her disappearance.
Imelda's brother is Gerry Keenan, he says they want closure:
"The not knowing, we have said it every year that maybe next year we will get news.
"We have waited and we have waited but we still have no news.
"The not knowing, the lack of closure is very hard on the Keenan family."
We remember Imelda Keenan from #Mountmellick, Co Laois who went missing from #Waterford City 26 years ago today.
Our thoughts and prayers are especially with Imelda's family and friends at this very sad time #HelpBringThemHome pic.twitter.com/ycOTuvfLKg— National Missing Persons Helpline (@nmph_ireland) January 3, 2020
He says the whole family is affected by Imelda's disappearance.
"The whole family has been affected in different ways.
"It has put a grey cloud over us for the last 26 years.
"As long as I have breath in my body I'm going to keep on campaigning."
Gerry Keenan hopes this will be the year that someone comes forward with information:
"People will remember exactly where they were, what happened.
"Imelda went missing from behind the Tower Hotel, the William Street area.
"I think people will remember, I know it's a long time ago, Waterford then was a different place.
"Her little plaque is still there on the bridge, we still go there and say a few prayers on the date that she went missing.
"Imelda's name has been highly profiled for the last 26 years."
