In a statement, WIT has said its campuses will not open on Tuesday, 7th December due to Storm Barra.
The college says all remote learning and work activities will continue as normal, adding that WIT campuses should reopen on Wednesday 8th December.
Staff and students should check email, the website and social media for further updates.
Met Éireann has advised that there is a strong possibility that the status of counties currently in Status Orange is likely to change and escalate to Status Red.
The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science is advising that all universities, colleges and further education facilities covered by the Red Alert and Orange warning from Met Éireann should not open on 7 December.
Waterford will be under a Status Orange alert from 6am tomorrow (Tuesday) until 6am Wednesday. Earlier, the Department of Education advised that schools should close tomorrow in all counties issued with Status Red and Orange warnings.
People have been advised to exercise extreme caution and not make unnecessary journeys, due to Storm Barra.
