A Waterford TD says he believes there will be "substantial movement" on the North Quays project in "the next few weeks".
There's still no time-frame for the delivery of funding for the multi-million euro project and the developer is currently reviewing the environmental aspects of the application, which was due to be submitted in July.
Speaking to Damien Tiernan on Deise Today, Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane said he's feeling optimistic after speaking to the Chief Executive of Waterford City and Council, Michael Walsh.
He also said he and his fellow Oireachtas members, John Halligan, Mary Butler and Paudie Coffey, will head up a delegation and meet the Secretary General of the Department of Public Expenditure and the Department of Transport.
Deputy Cullinane said the main stumbling block appears to be the train station.
Under the plans, a new strain station will be built to replace the existing Plunkett Station with a new bus set down area and short-term parking facilities.
