The government's being urged to take measures to ensure women can trust the health service following the CervicalCheck scandal.

A "National Day of Action" is being planned at 25 locations across the country today in solidarity with the 209 women affected.

A demonstration will take place in Waterford City this evening (Wednesday).

The event in John Roberts Square at 5.00pm is organised by Standing4Women - a nationwide movement of people passionate about issues affecting women.

There's over a thousand members in Waterford alone.

Regional coordinator for Standing4Women Margaret Julian says they want the government to act quickly in two areas, to pass an upcoming bill in relation to mandatory disclosure and to create a primary point of contact for families affected by the scandal.
