Voter turnout in Waterford City and County continues to be high.
83,000 people in Waterford City and County are eligible to vote today in the abortion referendum.
St John of Gods on the Passage Road in Waterford City is reporting the highest turnout so far at 53% just before 6.00pm. It was also as high at 50% in Portlaw just after 6.00pm this evening.
It's was just above 43% by 5.00pm at the Mercy Primary School in Waterford City.
In CBS Dungarvan Mitchell Street the turnout at 6.00pm was 32% however they're expecting a rush this evening.
It's close to 40% at the Sports Centre in Dungarvan.
In Lismore shortly after 5.00pm they were reporting a turnout of 30% which they said was the highest for this time of day for a referendum in years.
It was 35% in Cappoquin and Kilmacthomas just before 6.00pm. Staff there say it’s a strong turnout for the time of day and they believe that’s partly down to the vote taking place on a Friday.
Meanwhile, Irish people living abroad are still arriving into airports around the country to vote in today's referendum.
The hashtag home to vote is trending on twitter and Instagram.
This Waterford woman is literally taking planes trains and automobiles to get to her polling station: "I came from Dortmund, which is about an hour and a half north east of Dusseldorf in Germany. I am getting a train to Thurles and then an hours drive from Thurles to my house in Waterford. Then I'm going to vote and get straight back on a plane to get back out tomorrow so it's very much a flying visit."
