A 51-home development in Waterford has been refused planning permission by Waterford City and County Council.
The application from developers S&K Carey Ltd was for an area in the village of Cheekpoint.
Over 30 objections were lodged by local residents regarding the suitability of the development, which was first applied for in May of last year.
The list of objections pointed to issues such as the potential overdevelopment of the said area, pressures upon capacity which would result at nearby amenities, traffic problems, spaces at schools, and a significant rise in the population of the village.
The developer will have the right to appeal the refusal.
