Fourty-nine cost rental homes are set to be delivered in the Carrickphierish area of Waterford city.
Cost rental is defined as not for profit housing where the rent paid covers the cost of construction, management and maintenance.
The Mountneil housing development was supported in the Seanad by Waterford Fine Gael Senator John Cummins.
The homes are set to be delivered in two phases with availability potentially expected as early as December of 2024.
Rents for the homes are 25 per cent below comparable local rent prices for similar properties.
Two bedroom houses will be priced at €950 per month with three bedrooms priced at €1195 per month.
