Gardai in Waterford City are investigating an aggravated burglary which happened in the early hours of this morning.
It's reported that two males kicked in the front door of a house in Lismore Park at around 2.15am.
One produced a sharp object and ran upstairs to try to force their way to the bedrooms which were occupied by two students. They were demanding money and phones. They left a short time later after they failed to gain entry. Nobody was injured in the incident.
A second burglary took place in Larchville a short time later. The occupants of the house heard a noise at around 3.55am this morning and observed a male standing in their room. He demanded money and jewellery but got neither. The male took a 32" TV from the house. Nobody was injured in this incident.
Both scenes are being preserved for a technical examination.
