An appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanala for a large scale Waterford city housing development.

Permission was previously granted by Waterford City and County Council for all 292 units.

Planning permission was granted in August for a significant residential development on lands adjacent to the former Waterford Crystal Sports and Leisure Site.

The proposed development consists of 292 residential units, including 166 houses and 126 apartments.

Also included in the permission granted were associated demolition works for existing buildings on the site.

An appeal against the development has now been lodged with An Bord Pleanala.

The Woodlawn Grove Residents Association raised concerns over the impact the multi-storey buildings would have on the landscape, together with security concerns, traffic and safety concerns, and the potential strain on amenities and resources in the area.

The development lodged in the name of Tramore based Monaco Developments Limited will be decided upon by An Bord Pleanala by January 16th of next year.
