A 24-hour kayak event is set to get underway in the Knockmealdowns this evening.

MCG Kayaks in Tallow have organised the fundraiser on Baylough, or Béal Locha, on the Waterford/Tipperary border.

It's hoped thousands of euro will have been raised by the time the event finishes.

It's all in aid of the Children's Health Foundation Crumlin and Tallow teenager, Jordan Power.

Jordan has a number of health issues and has undergone 39 operations to date.

Speaking to WLR News, Kieran Geary of MCG Kayaks outlines what the plan is for today.

Set up will be taking place during the day, with kayaks, coffee, tea, and pancakes due for arrival throughout.

From 6pm, kayakers will be arriving every hour.

"They will do either 30 minutes or an hour kayak out on the lake, which is a very rare chance to kayak on Baylough," Kieran said.

Each person taking part will have been conducting their own fundraisers for both Jordan and the charity.

The kayaking will run all night long and all day tomorrow, finishing at 6pm on Saturday evening.
