South East Mountain Rescue (SEMRA) were called out at 20.15 on Sunday evening to help two walkers lost in the darkness above Coumshinguan.
Three search parties headed out from Kilclooney woods with their search dog Ziggy within 40 minutes of receiving the call.
Around an hour later visual contact was made with the lost walkers. And at 22.17 the first search party met with them on the ridge and began walking them down off the hill. The other search parties joined them along the way.
The last walkers were escorted back to their car and everyone was safely off the hill at 23:30.
SEMRA is advising the public that autumn is upon us and the evenings have become a lot shorter all of a sudden, it’s worth keeping in mind when heading out.
