Gardai are confused about how to police the re-opening of pubs, according to a new survey.

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors says members aren't sure what laws they're enforcing, and are relying on the media to provide clarity.

The survey of middle-ranking officers has found 94 per cent have had difficulty enforcing Covid 19 regulations since restrictions were eased.

Middle-ranking gardai say they're confused about how to enforce laws surrounding alcohol at the moment.

They say they don't know whether they're supposed to enforce Covid-19 laws or liquor licensing legislation.

94 per cent of AGSI members say they've had difficulty enforcing coronavirus laws as restrictions have been eased.

It comes amid scenes of large crowds drinking on the streets in Dublin at the weekend.
