There's still no change in the number of coronavirus patients at University Hospital Waterford.

There is one confirmed case on site.

A further three in-patients were awaiting the results of COVID testing last night.

Elsewhere in the South East, there are 6 confirmed cases at St Luke's in Kilkenny and 2 at Wexford General. South Tipperary General continues to have no coronavirus patients.

Meanwhile one of the country's leading immunologists says schools here should be re-opened next month for at least some students.

Under the government's road map of easing restrictions, children and teenagers are not due back to school until September.

But Professor of Biochemistry at the School of Immunology at Trinity, Luke O'Neil says there's a strong argument for this to happen sooner:
