Talks between Unite who are representing striking cleaning staff at University Hospital Waterford and their employers Momentum Support
ended without resolution at the work place relations commission in Waterford in the early hours of this morning.
125 workers are striking in a row over changes to their working conditions without consultation.
Unite's Tony Kelly says the pickets will continue.
He told WLR News "Momentum refused to row back on the changes which left Unite with no choice but to return to our members to decide now
on next steps. The talks started at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon and broke down at 1.30am this morning without resolution.
Momentum Support took over the cleaning contract at the hospital from ISS last September.
In a statement yesterday University Hospital Waterford says the ongoing picketing by cleaning staff is impacting directly on patient care and causing significant disruption.
They say the hospital will continue to work with key stakeholders to ensure minimal impact.
UHW has urged staff members not directly involved in the dispute to return to work and resume normal duties.
