The coastguard was called to assist a young man who had fallen down a cliff in Co Waterford overnight.
The stranded 22-year-old had fallen down the cliff south of Tramore near the Metal Man at around 3.30am.
The coastguard were launched at 7.30am and were able to access the man who was injured but still conscious. First aid was applied and he was then placed in a stretcher and winched off the cliff.
The coastguard helicopter brought him to Waterford Airport where a waiting ambulance then transferred him to University Hospital Waterford.
Captain Lee Bennett from Waterford Search and Rescue praised the work of agencies which attended the scene: "It's a team effort and between the local guard and especially the Tramore Coast Guard ground unit who did a fanastic job in making sure the public weren't endangered near the cliff. Without their support our jobs are a lot more difficult."
