11 projects from seven schools in Waterford have made it through to the finals of the BT Young Scientist competition.
The annual competition which began in 1965 takes place in January.
Ardscoil na Mara, St Angela’s, Ardscoil na nDeise, Blackwater Community, Gaelchoiáiste Phort Láirge, St Paul’s & Abbey Community are all represented.
One local project looks at whether sweet flavoured e-liquids are a factor in the vaping epidemic among teenagers.
Another says there’s a cure in the ground for everything.
In total 1,800 projects were submitted with 550 making though to the finals.
