The Scent Of Waterford Has Been Revealed!

The Big Breakfast Blaa and Milis Candles have teamed up to create the ‘DÉISE’ candle.

WLR's breakfast show The Big Breakfast Blaa with Vinny and Aoibhin has helped to launch a new candle which promises to capture the scent of Waterford! Simply called 'DÉISE', the candle is the result of a months-long project and partnership with Milis - a Waterford-based natural soy candle company founded by oncology nurse Fiona Young.

"We think it's a first for Irish radio" says Vinny Aoibhin, hosts of The Big Breakfast Blaa. "We know that Waterford looks stunning, and that our food tastes amazing, and we even know it sounds pretty great too, thanks to all of our great musicians - so the only sense left was smell!"

"For us, it was a way of interacting with listeners - to get them involved in the process. It was all of their suggestions which were the inspiration for the final recipe. We did get texts and emails saying we should incorporate the Blaa and the rasher! But by far the most common suggestions related to the sea and the mountains - things like sea salt and gorse, wildflowers etc - so we thought it was a great idea to pair the two together."

Fiona Young of Milis said “I was so proud and excited when WLR contacted me and tasked Milis with creating the scent of Waterford. It’s been such an amazing experience and hearing the publics’ suggestions has been so inspiring. I hope the people of Waterford love ‘DÉISE’ as much as we do."

‘DÉISE’ will be available to buy through mymilis.com and a number of local stores throughout Waterford city and county over the coming weeks and 5% of sales of all Milis products goes to the Irish Cancer Society. A full list of Milis stockists is available on the mymilis website.
