The annual Immrama travel festival returns to Lismore today after a three year break.
It runs from until Sunday June 19th in the heritage town, and this year's theme is "Big lives in small places. Roots in small towns."
The event is all about tales of travel and adventure, as visiting speakers give talks over the three days at the Lismore Heritage Centre and the Golf Clubhouse in the town.
Previous guests have included Terry Waite, Christina Lamb and Robert Fisk.
This year's festival includes talks from Des Ekin, who has gathered 30 true-life pirate stories from around the Irish coast, as well as from biographer Michael Smith who has written about explorer Tom Crean and the Franklin Expedition Disaster.
Also speaking at Immrama is Turtle Bunbury who will discuss his book Women of Munster - The Adventures Lola Montez, Eliza Lynch and Nellie Cashman.
Founding member of De Dannan Charlie Piggot will share details of the band's musical travel adventures, while there will be a book launch by local poet Molly Twomey and eco-poet and environmentalist Grace Wells.
Also on this year's bill are historian Donald Brady, Irish Independent correspondent Ralph Riegel, travel writer Thom Breathnach, and journalist, broadcaster and barman Billy Keane.
One of the organisers Edward Lynch says,” We are delighted to announce the return of the Immrama Festival of Travel Writing. The theme of the 2022 festival is ‘Big lives in small places. Roots in small towns' and all of our speakers will share their insights of their global journeys and those of others who left their small towns to go on great adventures and return with tales of life discoveries."
