The Waterford Film Festival is celebrating its 15th annual event, running from November 12th to 15th. 
In total, the online festival will present 160 short films from around the world. There are 110 Irish Short Films & 50 International Films.

Festival Format

There will be several programmes, which will  have a series of short films ranging between 12-15  films per programme. The duration of each session is on average 2 hours 15 mins.Organisers of the Waterford Film Festival say this year's event comprises a range of genres and themes. The films shown will include award winning productions as well as ones from debut film makers.  A total of 22 countries will be represented.The festival will also host a virtual workshop entitled The Craft of Film Making by film director Ronan O'Leary. This is an online class aimed at new and emerging actors, covering the craft of screen acting, together with practical tips.

Competition element of the Waterford Film Festival

70 projects have been selected as finalists for the festival's screenplay competition. From this selection, 20 finalists will be chosen and the overall winners will be announced on November 14th. Winners from other competitions in film and photography will also be announce don that day.

Online platform

The Waterford Film Festival website has the full descriptions of all the films being shown this year, and are in competition.Organisers say the platform works similarly to Netflix, in that you select a programme you wish to watch, create an account with an email address and password and pay the fee with secure payment options including Stripe & PayPal.  You can sign up at any time but the films will only be available to view during the festival period.
