Come sing a song of Christmas with the award winning Waterford Male Voice Choir, as they perform their Annual Christmas Concert in The Franciscan Friary, Lady Lane in Waterford City on Friday, 15th December at 8pm.
In recent years, the Waterford Male Voice Choir has performed in many local concerts and has traveled abroad to perform in Poland, Italy, Austria, England and Wales. The choir has also had many successes in competitions, having received first places in both the Arklow and New Ross Choral festivals and was a prizewinner in the Cork International Choral Festival.
The choir regularly participates in and receives support from the Waterford City Council & Waterford County Council's Arts & Cultural events, and has raised over €90,000 for charities in Waterford. This year, the Waterford Male Voice Choir will be raising money as part of the WLR Christmas Appeal in aid of the Saint Vincent de Paul in Waterford.
Performing a variety of Christmas carols on the night, the Waterford Male Voice Choir will be accompanied by soloists Elspeth Hayes (Mezzo-Soprano) & Cillian Brown (Pianist).
Elspeth is a mezzo soprano, choral conductor and vocal coach, who most recently appeared with The New Ross Singers at Christchurch Cathedral, Waterford in a performance of Gounod's Mass of St Cecilia. In the past she sang with the RTE Philharmonic Choir and more recently with Ad Hoc Chorale in Waterford.
Cillian, in spite of his relative youth, has established himself as a pianist and songwriter. He is very comfortable with material from both a Classical and Jazz idiom and returns to play for WMVC having previously guested for the choir at an end of year concert within the past 2 years.
Entry to the concert is free, but donations will be collected at the interval as part of the WLR Christmas Appeal in aid of the Saint Vincent de Paul in Waterford.
