Revenue officers have seized €3 million cigarettes from a lorry at Rosslare Europort.
The cigarettes, which represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of more than €1.6 million, were found in a lorry disembarking a ferry from Cherbourg in France.
The illegal goods were concealed in a Polish registered vehicle and were discovered through an x-ray scanner.
A Polish national in his thirties was questioned and investigations are ongoing.
