Jennifer Long is the producer of ‘Déise Today’, Waterford and WLR’s flagship current affairs and talk show.
The programme, presented by Eamon Keane, is THE place to hear the stories that matter to Waterford people and for reaction and analysis to news and current affairs locally, nationally and internationally.
Jennifer has an honours degree in Journalism from Dublin City University, graduating in 2001. She initially worked full-time in print media, spending seven years as a reporter with ‘The Waterford News & Star’ as well as contributing to national print media.
In 2009, she moved to WLR to take up a full-time position as producer of the busy ‘Déise AM’ show presented by the late Billy McCarthy, and it was with Jennifer as the producing driving force behind the show that ‘Deise AM’ went onto nab a prestigious national PPI silver award for ‘Best Current Affairs’ programme in 2014.
In January 2017, following Billy’s sad passing, Jennifer took on the role of producing ‘Déise Today’ presented by Eamon Keane. Already, the show has been proving a big hit with Waterford listeners thanks to strong coverage of some of the big stories to date in Waterford in 2017, including cardiac services in UHW, the closure of the Sacred Heart unit in Dungarvan Community Hospital and the controversial boundary extension issue.
Jennifer is from Portlaw and is married to Victor. They have one daughter, Amelia (3).
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys reading, going to the cinema, music, travelling and long walks enjoying the beautiful Waterford countryside and coastline!
