A trio of Waterford pooches have been shortlisted for the Stena Line "Ferry Pawfather/Pawmother" Award.

Laurence and Lesley Loughnane are the proud pet parents to doggie twins Rosie and Ruby and their adopted brother Charlie. The terrific trio are super cute and fun-loving, but sadly life hasn't always been so sweet.

During their time in Dubai in 2018, Laurence and Lesley, who already had two young Cavalier King Charles Spaniels named Rosie and Ruby, saw a picture of a tiny, terrified, and malnourished pup abandoned at an animal welfare sanctuary and decided to adopt Charlie and give him a loving home. After moving from Dubai to the Déise in 2021, Rosie, Ruby, and Charlie enjoy the convenience of living a stone's throw from the sea and near enough to a forest to go on walks through the woods.

The puppers, who are already Instafamous with over 16,000 followers on their dedicated account, are no strangers to travel; frequently taking trips to the UK to see Laurence and Lesley's family. The pawsome three defeated 4,000 other dogs to make the final shortlist of the 'Stena Line Ferry Pawfather/Pawmother' competition, suggesting that the family may be embarking on another Irish sea voyage soon, as the winners get a return trip to England.
