Dungarvan native Keelin Mcginn, 24, has made it to the Hollywood stages of the 21st season of American Idol.

The audition was enough to wow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie to progress to the next stage.

Studying in St. Augustines's College, Dungarvan Keelin studied at the Cork School of Music before returning to New York.

Starting off with an unfortunate no from Luke Bryan, it was a rocky start for the Dungarvan native.

Katy Perry referencing "I think I see something in there. It's a little weird but so am I",  followed by a yes from Katy and Lionel.

Richie referencing"You are memorable, I would love to see where you go."

Luke Bryan came back in to say"I'm not mad you are going to Hollywood, I think it is going to be interesting".

Keelin was filled with joy when she found out she was progressing to the next round.

The video has been viewed over 300,000 times online.

The Hollywood stages see hundreds of hopefuls move to Hollywood to battle it out to be part of the final stages of the competition.
