LISTEN BACK: Just weeks before most had even heard of the coronavirus, longtime staff of the Dungarvan Leader, Billy Coleman and John Byrne purchased the title from the Nagle family and took over the running of the newspaper.
Speaking to Eoghan Dalton on the Hot Desk, Billy admits they're putting the theory of timing being everything to the test, with the coronavirus crisis ravaging local media across Ireland. However, at the time of writing, the Dungarvan Leader is the largest newspaper in Waterford and has managed to retain all its staff.
Billy also discusses how the Leader is trying to adapt week by week, whether trust in newspapers could be damaged by government rescue funding, and the changes he's seen in West Waterford as a result of the pandemic.
