The Port of Waterford, which is busier than ever ahead of Brexit

The Port of Waterford is to invest almost €1 million into a new Pilot Boat. Port Láirge will be 15 metres long and will provide safer conditions for Pilotage personnel. The boat, due to launch in September 2021, is being built by Safehaven Marine Ltd in Youghal, after a competitive international tendering process.

I spoke to Harbourmaster at The Port of Waterford, Darren Doyle, about the function of the new boat, and about how the port has been getting ready for Brexit..

Customer care software provider Klearcom won the third and final NDRC at  Investor Showcase at Arclabs in late November, seeing off five other businesses to take the €30,000 top prize.

Klearcom helps multinational contact centres prevent and recover faster from contact centre outages. I spoke to its founder, and winner of the investor backing, Liam Dunne..

There's a new barber shop in town - Crystal Cave Barbers opened on Stephen Street in Waterford City on December 1st, just after Lockdown ended. I spoke to owner Mohammed earlier this week, before the new restrictions were announced. (All hairdressers and barbers will shut again from today, Christmas Eve, as part of new Lockdown measures.)

Dunhill native Nick Murray, a 4th year BBS (Hons) Marketing student at WIT, is the winner of the 2020 LePere award, winning €1,000 and invaluable industry recognition.

The Marketing Society of Ireland LePere annual award was set up in commemoration of the late John LePere (the acknowledged founding father of marketing in Ireland).
