Members of Waterford Rotary Club and Helping Hand Waterford Volunteers will sleep out in their back gardens at their homes on Saturday 30th May. This sleep out hopes to raise much needed funds and awareness of homelessness both in Waterford City and the country, with the monies raised going to Helping Hand Waterford.
Helping Hand Waterford, which has been operation since 2015, is a charitable organisation located in Waterford City and is dedicated to helping those in need. At present, the organisation provides hot meals, food, tea and coffees, advocacy, tents and sleeping bags along with clothing and toiletries five nights a week from St. Patricks Gateway Centre, and with current public health restrictions being lifted, once again, provides service six nights a week.
Waterford Rotary Club has set up a go fund me page in conjunction with Waterford Helping Hand, as part of this fundraiser.
You can listen to chairperson of Helping Hand Waterford Paul Power, in conversation with us on The Big Breakfast Blaa this morning...
