What's it all about?
With cinemas having just re-opened in the last few weeks, In the Heights could well be the first big-screen outing for many. The musical drama is based on the stage show of the same name. The songs are by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also brought us Hamilton (discerning viewers will notice Miranda has a small role in this latest movie).
Directed by Jon M.Chu, In the Heights is set in the predominantly Dominican Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York. We watch as members of the tight-knit community dream of a better life, with singing and dancing peppered throughout.

What did Maria think?
She was highly impressed, and felt it was the feel-good movie we all needed to see, after lockdown. Maria felt the songs were instantly catchy, the performances were great and it had an infectious joy.
