The annual "Comeragh's Wild" festival takes place from July 11th to 14th.

Mary dropped into us on The Big Breakfast Blaa with all the details on what's coming up this year for the unique festival that combines the beauty of County Waterford with the arts. The Comeraghs Wild  runs from July 11th to July 14th. You'll find out more here.

A packed schedule this year

This year’s action-packed, four day programme includes an open air concert deep in the Comeragh Mountains and at the foot of Mahon Falls, featuring internationally-renowned singer and songwriter, Don Mescall, and the award-winning Mount Sion Choir.

There’s also an open air showbands special featuring Gina & the Champions, with special guests Brass and Co and RTE’s Ronan Collins. This is happening in Kilmacthomas, where the band performed live for the first time 40 years ago this year.

There will also be plenty of outdoor activity for the more adventurous among you; from surfing to a bike descent in the Nire Valley, and on the cultural side of things there’s creative writing; a Famine walk; afternoon tea at Curraghmore House and at Woodhouse Estate; Dancing at the Crossroads and storytelling with one of Ireland’s most popular story tellers, Eddie Lenihan.

Younger festival goers can enjoy sea gardening with Marie Power, AKA The Sea Gardener; the Away with the Fairies fairy garden building sessions deep in Crough Wood; Arty Crafty at Kilmacthomas Library and Sand Art on Kilmurrin Cove with renowned sand artist, Sean Corcoran.

Among the new additions to this year’s programme is a cookery demonstration with Decky Walsh of the award winning Holy Smoke restaurant. This will take place at Nell’s Farm House in the shadows of the Comeragh Mountains. He will serve up a six course feast of local Comeragh delights. On the menu is fire-roasted butternut squash soup, hot-smoked brown trout, slow roast leg of Comeragh lamb, locally-sourced free range chicken, beef tomahawk from a local farm and a fabulous dessert.
