Liam Cahill has accepted responsibility for Waterford’s disappointing last quarter against Limerick in the Munster final last Sunday.
The Shannonsiders outscored the Déise by seven points to three in that period to retain their provincial title.
“When you look at it from a tactical perspective, we probably didn’t change it up enough. I partly blame myself for that as well that we continued to rain high ball down on top of Limerick’s key players. People say ‘sure why didn’t Stephen O’Keeffe change it up in the goal’ but ultimately, when you hit the ball out, you have to have men out there to win it as well. Everybody has to look at themselves and start challenging themselves a bit more. When things don’t work, you have to vary it up. To be honest, we didn’t vary it up enough in the last fifteen minutes. We have to look at that and make sure it doesn’t happen us again.”
