Fresh from their historic FAI Junior Cup win at the weekend, all-Ireland champions Villa FC are through to the Jimmy Searson Memorial Premier Cup Final.
They saw off Ballinroad at Ozier Park last night to book their place in the decider.
Villa’s first game as champions of Ireland proved a success, as their bid to become the first Waterford club to win the treble of the Premier League, Premier Cup & FAI Junior Cup remains alive.
Villa took the lead against the Rams on 17 minutes, Cian Browne continuing his good run of form by netting the opener.
Ballinroad drew level not long after the half hour, when James Coade was on target as they looked to spring an upset.
With the scores level at the interval, it was in the second half that Villa showed why they are the best team in Ireland.
Dean Walsh scored his 39th goal of the campaign on the hour mark, the first of three goals in ten minutes which effectively killed the tie. Browne netted again on 65 minutes before Walsh popped up four minutes later.
Niall McCabe would also get in on the act four minutes from the end, while Walsh completed his hat-trick late on to secure a 6-1 win.
Conor Coad’s side go on to face Ferrybank in the final.
