Waterford manager Kevin Barry says it was a great win.
"We're delighted it's been a long, drawn out year for us.
"Everything and anything that could happen, did happen."
Kevin Barry added that it's "great for the girls after almost 13 months together that we finally got a bit of silverware to back up last year's Munster Minor Cup.
"Hopefully they will drive on and play higher grades for their clubs and county next year.
He praised Abbey Flynn and Sarah Lacey but says the entire team dug deep to defeat Clare.
"Conditions were tough, our lads dug in, traditionally over the last three or four years we've had problems beating Clare. They beat us most games we played.
"It was a big, tough physical battle. The girls stood up, they were counted and they got their reward in the end."
Kevin Barry says the win over Clare is another positive step for camogie in Waterford.
