Waterford FC welcome the reigning Champions to the RSC this Friday for their latest SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division meeting with the Hoops.

With one win apiece iso far this season, both sides will be looking to pick up another important three points this Friday.

The Blues come into the game on Friday looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat away to Drogheda United in Weavers Park.

Frantz Pierrot opened the scoring for the hosts in the opening half, before Adam Foley doubled the lead in the final minutes as the Blues were pushing on for an equaliser.

The Blues defeated Shamrock Rovers three-one in their most recent meeting between the sides in May at Tallaght Stadium, when an own-goal, Dean McMenamy & Connor Parsons guided the Blues to a stunning victory against the hosts.

They head into Friday’s game sitting in third place in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division table, with 37 points to their name after 25 games.

The Hoops make the journey to the RSC on Friday after falling to defeat in their UEFA Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round clash against Czech Republic giants Sparta Prague.

Sparta ran into a first-leg 2-0 lead last week, before defeating Stephen Bradley’s side 4-2 in the second-leg at the ePet Arena in Prague on Tuesday.

In what is the Hoops’ first league game since July 4th when they defeated Dundalk by a sole Johnny Kenny goal, Rovers will look to pick up their second RSC win of the season after defeating Waterford by two-goals-to-one at the beginning of April.

The Hoops sit in fifth place in the league table on 34 points from 23 games in the 2024 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division.
