Waterford Premier League returns on sun soaked weekend

Waterford Premier League returns on sun soaked weekend

The return to action for the Waterford and District Junior League will get underway this weekend with the league also welcoming four new clubs from the dissolved WWEC League for the 2022-23 season.

For the second year running, the league is delighted to announce that Azzurri will be the primary sponsor of the league, and we’re delighted that Ball Corporation will also remain on board as sponsors of the Under 17 and Youth Leagues.

Whilst Cappoquin/Railway and Lismore had teams in the league at underage level last season, the two Western teams will be joined by Brideview and Clashmore Ramblers in the Junior section with Brideview to face St. Paul’s in their first game in the 2A League on Saturday afternoon.

The Premier League will see four games over the course of Saturday and Sunday with promoted Bohemians facing Ballinroad at Ben Wadding Park and Tramore hosting Southend United on Saturday evening while Sunday’s two games will see Waterford Crystal entertain Ferrybank, and Carrick host Dungarvan.

League champions Villa will kick-start trying to retain their title on Wednesday evening when they take on Hibernians in what will be a mouthwatering contest at Connors Park with a 7pm kick-off.

In the Division 1A League, which gets underway on Saturday, relegated Piltown take on Johnville at Kildalton Park, Portlaw face Tramore Rangers and St. Joseph’s host Seaview Celtic on Saturday with all these games kicking off at 2 pm, while Tramore play host to Kilmacow in Sunday’s stand-alone fixture.
