Ballinroad who were playing their first-ever game in the Premier League got off to a flying start in the top grade when they defeated Carrick United one-nil. The champions Hibernians were trounced at home in Mitchel Kennedy Park by the Villa. Adam Heaslip (1) Sean O'Keeffe (17) John Kavanagh (36) Conor Kilgannon (48) and Salim Ahmed (88) were the goalscorers for the visitors. Gary Keane (21) and David Cooley (75) netted for Hibernians. It was an ideal start for the new Villa manager Conor Coad. Final score. Hibernians  2   Villa  5

Dungarvan United took the lead through a Robbie Mulligan penalty after 28 minutes but Sean Flynn equalised for Ferrybank two minutes later. Paul Phelan then put the visitors in front at Kilrush Park on the stroke of halftime. Thomas Whitty made it 3-1 on 72 minutes. Eoin Rhodes added a 4th five minutes from fulltime.  Final score. Two more games will be played tonight. Waterford Crystal host Tramore Rangers and Southend United will welcome Tramore FC  to their ground. Both matches will kick-off at 6.30pm.
