UL and IT Carlow booked their places in the Fitzgibbon Cup semi finals last night, beating the Cork Sides MTU and UCC in their respective last eight meetings.
Abbeyside's Michael Kiely has had a busy two weeks, featuring for UL last night - scoring 1.2, to help his team to a 2.22 to 1.19 win over the Munster Technical University.
Kiely also featured for UL in last week's outing, as well as earning a man-of-the-match performance in the U20A football final for Ballinacourty last Friday, before coming on in Waterford's hurling league opener against Dublin. Clonea's Billy Power also lined out for the Treaty County team, scoring a point from play.
Elsewhere last night, there was also Waterford involvement on the field for IT Carlow and Iarlaith Daly's UCC.
Modeligo man Thomas Walsh held the whistle as DJ Carey's Carlow advanced to the final four beating UCC 1.17 to 0.14 - making amends for their 2020 final loss to the same team.
Tonight, WIT are on the road to Galway for their quarter-final where Billy Nolan, Ciaran Kirwan, Shane Bennett, and Tom Barron are all likely to see game time. That one throws in at seven o clock.
