Waterford notch fourth home win in a row against Sligo

Waterford FC 4 Sligo Rovers 1

Waterford got back to winning ways as they notched their fourth home win in a row with a win over Sligo Rovers at the RSC.

Keith Long made two changes as Dean McMenamy and Kasper Radkowski came in for Niall O Keeffe and Ryan Burke and both players took full advantage of their start.

The opening goal came courtesy of Ben McCormack who notched his first for the club on 25 minutes. Great work from Radkowski saw him find Darragh Leahy on the left. His delivery was headed clear by Reece Hutchinson into the path of McCormack who hit the ball downward and it spun up and over McGinty for the lead.

Sligo did have a couple of chances through Fabrice Hartmann and he should have done better when he weaved through two defenders but he somehow scooped the ball over the bar.

Waterford went two up on the hour mark when a long ball from Grant Horton was misread by Charlie Wiggett and Connor Parsons latched onto the ball and fired past McGinty.

Wiggett was involved in Waterford's third six minutes later when his push on McMenamy resulted in a penalty which was dispatched by Podge Amond.

Amond then added his 11th goal of the season two minutes from time when he came from deep to meet a McCormack cross and he buried the header.
