Waterford Minor hurlers sealed their place in the Munster Championship Semi-final following last night's dominant victory over Limerick in Kilmallock.
Goals late in the first-half from Peter Cummins and Jack Twomey handed the Dèise a commanding 2-8 to 0-4 lead at half-time as they powered to an eight point victory.
Waterford manager Shane Ahearne said it was the ideal response after a disappointing display in Ennis last week:
"We knew what they were capable of and we knew they hadn't shown it. So that's all we wanted tonight, a bit of honesty and bravery to get out there and show what they can do. We saw a lot of that tonight, but there's still a lot more in this team. We had a lot of wides tonight that we need to improve on," he said.
The Déise boss was always confident his players would deliver when it mattered, "I'm proud of the lads the way they picked themselves up from last week, and got a great win here tonight," he said.
Speaking to WLR Sport, Shane admitted their energy levels were at the required level right from the first whistle, adding that the use of subs was essential when the lads were giving it their all.
He said they'll relish the challenge of a re-match with Tipp in the last four next Tuesday.
