Waterford handballer Charlie Treen played Cavan's Niall Magee in the U17 All-Ireland final on Friday 5th November in the 60x30 alley in the Friary.
In a highly entertaining and competitive first game, Charlie came out on top 15-11. Charlie then pushed home his advantage to take the next game 15-4 and with it the All-Ireland U17 title.
It was a magnificent win for the St. Augustine's student who has trained hard for this covid delayed event along with coach John O’Mahoney and the ever supportive Brother Finbar Spring.
Charlie started playing handball in 4th class in primary school and has developed a real love of the game. He also plays hurling for Abbeyside/Ballinacourty.
