Waterford FC suffer injury time defeat on the road

The Blues led early but were overcome by Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Michael O’Connor opened the scoring for John Sheridan’s side after 16 minutes but a late fightback from the home side resulted in Ronan Coughlan drawing level on 77 minutes. Substitute Alex Cooper netted the winner with a 93^rd minute free-kick.

It means John Sheridan's men are without a win in four games, having been on the road for each match. They sit in fifth in the table.

It's the Bit-O-Red's third win in four games and moves Liam Buckley’s side two-points clear of the bottom two.
