Michael Walsh, the Waterford FC kit manager, has received a Volunteer in Sport Award.
He has served his beloved Blues for an unbroken 55 years.
Michael was presented with the award yesterday by Mary O'Connor, the Chief Executive of the Federation of Irish Sport, at a function in Farmleigh House in the Phoneix Park.
Speaking to WLR Sport, Michael paid tribute to his wife Bridie. He said her love for the club has made it possible for him to remain as the loyal kit manager.
He also said he has no intention of retiring just yet:
"People ask me when do I think I'm going to retire. Either I drop down or I get booted out, that's the only way I can see myself going out of it."
