Waterford FC are through to their second FAI Cup semi final in a row following a well deserved 3 - 2 victory over Dundalk at a packed RSC tonight.
Waterford fell behind to a strange goal after just eleven minutes when Paul Martin dived to touch a Paul Doyle 30 yard strike onto the crossbar but could only watch as it spun down onto the turf and then back into the goal.
However, the Blues were level just after the half hour when Shane Griffin pounced on a poor Greg Sloggett clearance to fire past Nathan Sheppard for a deserved equaliser.

A Phoenix Patterson free kick two minutes before the break provided Waterford's second when Killian Cantwell knocked down the ball into the path of Darragh Power and he fired to the roof of the net from close range.
Patterson then produced a goal of the season contender to extend Waterford's lead on sixty six minutes when he unleashed a curling bullet from the left edge of the box to the top right hand corner, giving Sheppard no chance.

Dundalk did manage to put the ball in the Blues' net deep in injury time through substitute Keith Ward but the Blues held firm to progress to the semi finals where they will be hoping to go one better than last season.
