Waterford FC have filed a complaint with the FAI following their 1 nil loss to Finn Harps on Monday night.
WLR Sport understands that the complaint relates to a Finn Harps player being fielded despite facing a possible suspension.
The player in question had received five yellow cards and was due to have a hearing to resolve the matter, but with the final day of fixtures being pushed to Monday night (moved back from Sunday) the hearing was similarly pushed out to Tuesday.
The result with Finn Harps ended the Blues hopes of a European Qualifier spot and with the result of Dundalk and Sligo Rovers ending favorably for Waterford, the Blues would have clinched third spot with a win in Ballybofey.
A post on the club twitter page says that the club will be making no further comment on the matter at this time
Waterford FC can confirm that a complaint has been registered with the FAI regarding our Monday night fixture away to Finn Harps. The matter is with our legal team and no further statement will be made on the matter at this time.
