Waterford recorded a facile victory over Meath in yesterdays All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship in Pairc Talitean.
Two goals apiece from Beth Carton and Annie Fitzgerald in the first half helped Waterford to a 4-6 to 0-6 lead at the interval.
The scoring rate dropped off in the second period but Niamh Rockett did raise another green flag for the visitors during the second half.
Final score. Meath 11 points. Waterford 5-9.
The Waterford manager Donal O'Rourke said he was delighted to get off to a good start.
Donal said they had rested four players but they did not want to take their eye off the ball. The last three games had been tough and he was happy to use some substitutes during the game.
Donal O'Rourke says next weeks home game against Clare will either make of break their season.
He said the only negative from yesterday was they shot fourteen wides and scored nine points, he says a win over Clare next week will guarantee them a quarter final and if they
lose that could be the season over.
